A lifelong love of natural fibres led me to discover traditional rug hooking in the late 90’s. I was enamoured with the history of Maritimers using whatever they had on-hand to make rugs to warm the floors of their coastal homes. I try to embrace that tradition in my work by using primitive burlap and primitive linen as my backing and using up-cycled and hand-dyed wool to create my unique designs.
As a self-taught rug maker and designer, my range of work includes landscapes, word art, and primitive pieces. Often current ideas are portrayed with vintage materials, or primitive design is carried out with a modern palette. The results are original, functional works of art. Each piece is carefully crafted by hand with hope that it will become a part of your home that you will enjoy for years.
